A message from Michigan Supreme Court Candidate Judge Connie Marie Kelley
I am seeking a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court to protect families. The Supreme Court’s decisions affect your life everyday on issues like equal pay for equal work, pensions, what constitutes sexual assault and harassment and whether you get to vote on issues of importance to you.
In a recent Detroit Free Press endorsement, I was endorsed as a “candidate of quality and character.” I’m proud of that description. I’m equally as proud of being described as “tough on crime” by my colleagues. As such, I have been endorsed by more police and fire organizations than any other candidate. Also key among my supporters are the Michigan Democratic Party, UAW, Michigan Education Association and Michigan Nurses Association.
I am the mother of two sons and a niece that I raised. I grew up in a large Irish Catholic middle class family. My father is a retired school teacher and MEA member. My mother did the hard work of raising six children. I was the first one in my family to attend college and I paid my own way through the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School, by waitressing, student loans and scholarships.
