Bing, workers blame each other
“We are in an environment, I think, of entitlement. We’ve got a lot of people who are city workers, who for years and years, 20, 30 years, think they are entitled to a job and all that comes with it.”
— Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, Nov. 30, during a CNN interview.
Do you agree or disagree with Bing?
I just wish I had a job. It’s very difficult out here. Maybe the workers are just trying to hang on to what they have, a job. Bing has money. He isn’t worried about making ends meet. He shouldn’t dis the workers.
No. I don’t agree with Bing. City workers don’t deserve that kind of disrespect. They do their job and feel no more entitled to it than Ford, Chrysler or GM workers feel entitled to their job. What is (Bing) talking about “they think they entitled to a job and all that comes with it?” What does that mean? He’s lost it, completely out of his mind.
I don’t know. It seems like work (that) workers should be doing isn’t getting done. The workers blame Bing and Bing blames the workers. However, I do know nobody likes to be called lazy. That’s how I interpreted what Bing said. “(City workers) feel they’re entitled to a full day’s pay for a half day’s work.” I don’t think that’s true.
