Saving the Dunbar

Last month, a historic African American hospital was to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Dunbar Hospital, located in rapidly gentrifying Midtown, seemed to be a symbol of the times for African Americans in Detroit. The property, at 580 Frederick, was listed with the Wayne County Treasurer and fetched a $195,000 bid before a last minute effort pulled the site from auction. ...
