City of Detroit dog licenses

dogAs of Oct. 7, 2013, City of Detroit Community Affairs Centers will no longer sell city of Detroit dog licenses, according to a news release from Detroit Police Department.

Dog licenses will continue to be available over the counter or by mail at: Detroit Animal Control at 3511 W. Jefferson.

If purchasing a dog license by mail, the city says to enclose current proof of rabies vaccination for the dog(s) with the dog owner’s home address and a check or money order made out to “City of Detroit” for $10 for spayed or neutered dogs, or $15 for an intact dog.

If purchasing a dog license over the counter at Animal Control, the same documentation is required, but payment is accepted in cash only.  Please note that a vaccination certificate with at least 11 months of immunity remaining is required to purchase a dog license.

The Detroit Animal Control office is open for license sales and rabies vaccinations (additional $25.00 fee) Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Please remember that the city of Detroit Animal Control Ordinance requires all dogs over four months of age to have a current city of Detroit dog license.
