Detroit marketer gives free talk to help small businesses improve visibility

DETROIT — Small business owners often get frustrated with competing against bigger companies, feeling they don’t have the marketing budget to compete effectively. Chris Wechner of The Ultimate Analyst, an online marketing company, will lead a discussion at 4 p.m. July 12 in the Cooper Room of the Eastern Campus of Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD), 5901 Connor St. Wechnerwill explain ways to compete with the big companies, even on a next-to-nothing budget.

He will also explain at least three different ways to make videos on the Internet without having to spend a dime, which will help small businesses market themselves online and compete on a more level playing field. Wechner will be demonstrating how to do this and helping small business owners learn how to do this for themselves.

When it comes to visibility on the Web, there are few tools greater than video. YouTube makes video a powerful marketing medium that any marketer can use to attract an audience.

“Many small business owners have a lot of marketing resources that are cheap, if not free, and they have absolutely no idea about them,” Wechner said. “Then there are many other small business owners that hear about these things but don’t have any idea how to implement these marketing resources for themselves.”

Wechner says video is a crucial tool when promoting a business online, and with advances in technology, it is something anyone can utilize to gain visibility on the web.

“Videos are such powerful online marketing tools, but most people think that they don’t have enough money to create videos — not even realizing that they can make videos for free,” Wechner said. “They create great SEO value, because they tend to rank really well within Google and other search engines, and they provide an opportunity to connect with people in a way that articles and the rest of your written words on people’s Web sites just aren’t really able to do.”
