Race doesn’t matter
By Sam Riddle
Special to the Michigan Citizen
You love saying, “Race doesn’t matter to me…”
We are the only people race hasn’t mattered to, who have been enslaved in these United States, and now you are a slave to mainstream media and self hate. KMA.
You are that same house fella and girl that helped rebuild the plantation just after the Civil War, because you couldn’t stand a little freedom. But we do battle in the marketplace of ideas in a peaceful non-violent manner, until we reluctantly mingle in the room of self-hate.
You and a do-nothing Michigan Democratic Party, with a naïve wanna be Dem candidate for governor, Mark can’t-recall-his- last-name-from-some-where-else, are the reason democracy-destroying union-busting Snyder is now leading in self-fulfilling polls.
Snyder has used race to consolidate his political base throughout white Michigan by demonstrating he will crack the nerd whip and keep Black Michigan in check starting with big bad Detroit.
Historically, Detroit has been the whipping post of Lansing, which bails these Koch Brother worshippers out whenever they get in electoral trouble. Need votes? Just kick the stuffing outta Detroit. That’s always worth a white wink and their version of “Amen” with handkerchief head Negro proxy enablers smiling and nodding, while their condo and airfare tabs are taken care of by Gov. Nerd. KMA.
If you are undecided in the Detroit mayoral election, LOL. Find out where the dollars are flowing, from those who support D-U-G-G-A-N, and ascertain if those are the same dollars that support legislators in Lansing that are waging war on the poor and single female heads of households receiving less than $400 per month assistance in Michigan.
These haters say those living under Third World conditions should do community service, while gladly forking over hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate welfare to those who babysit hockey pucks as General Motors hustles tax abatements, and Lansing legislative bullies kick sand in the face of the voiceless.
So what community service are these billionaires really rendering for their welfare payments? And don’t tell me about ambulances and police cars. Those are pay-to-play trinkets akin to beads for Manhattan so that more concrete can be poured over Belle Isle grass, while the downtown real estate fire sale rages on.
Hmmm… on second thought, who is dollar zooming whom may not matter to those who enable such folk by their silence. WTF.
I had the opportunity to testify in U.S. Bankruptcy Court as part of my objection to the Negro proxy of Governor Snyder illegally filing bankruptcy on behalf of Detroit. This was my statement:
“My name is Sam Riddle. I am a resident of the city of Detroit and I am an interested party to the filing of this bankruptcy. I am here to object to the emergency manager of Detroit filing this bankruptcy because as an Honorably Discharged Vietnam-Era veteran who served from 1965 to 1968, I took seriously my duty to defend democracy — indeed was prepared to give my life if necessary to protect American democracy and our way of life in these United States of America.
I believe there is a threshold issue that a federal court must address before this bankruptcy may go forward rooted in the founding of this nation. Do dollars trump democracy? I also believe the two cases filed by the Detroit NAACP and the one Reverend Charles Williams II is a plaintiff in should be resolved before this bankruptcy proceeds.
Your Honor, there are two big elephants in this courtroom — race and democracy.
When dollars are the priority over our right to elect a city council and a mayor to make decisions for Detroit, then Detroit debt is being used to justify the largest institutionalized racist poll tax in American history because more Black Americans in America’s Blackest city have seen their votes rendered meaningless than all the night riders of the Ku Klux Klan could do in the Deep South with their lynchings, cross burnings and terror to stop us from voting and enjoying full liberties as American citizens.
In Detroit, the imposition of an emergency manager slammed the door of democracy on Detroit during times when this nation dares inflict drone democracy in the Middle East. Such hypocrisy is an insult to all who have served this nation and to those serving in our military today.
I believe this court or the appropriate federal court should decide if the emergency manager laws of Michigan are legal before Detroit’s emergency manager takes more action on behalf of Detroit, including the filing of this bankruptcy.
As a resident of Detroit, I object to my tax dollars being used without a duly empowered Detroit City Council and Mayor participating in those decisions. No taxation without representation.
But maybe what is operative here is lodged in a U.S. Supreme Court decision that has never been overturned, when Chief Justice Taney said, “A Black man has no rights that a white man is bound to respect” in the Dred Scott case. Thank You.”
We must never let haters cause us to lose hope or dislike ourselves and never let haters make you weak in your faith. Keep the faith. Stay on the battlefield.
