Voters not apathetic

By Sam Riddle

Detroit voters are not apathetic. And the people of Detroit are not lazy and stupid as they have been called by the Negro EM proxy of Governor Nerd. The people of Detroit, in particular the 75 percent of registered voters who did not vote, do give a damn.  You, that would lead, must demonstrate you give a damn about the people of Detroit before you see a dramatic increase in voter turnout.

Those of you who say, “If you did not vote — shut up,” you operate from a position of generic ignorance. It is not apathy but a failure of democracy and leadership that keeps three out of four registered voters home. People of Detroit know this election was a shell game when Detroit is occupied and ruled by democracy-destroying union-busters.

In the history of America there has never been a more chilling effect, yes, suppression of the right to vote of Black Americans than the imposition of a democracy destroying emergency manager over Detroit. When the streets say, “Why vote? My vote doesn’t mean anything,” today in Detroit, the streets are right.

Detroit, America’s Blackest and poorest city, knows what is going on as they endure the double whammy of Governor Nerd and piss poor community leadership that has not delivered for the Second(ary) Detroit and there are two Detroits. The divide between the Haves and the Have Nots has never been greater. The unity babble is pure BS and the people speak loudly with non-participation.

As an honorably discharged Vietnam-era veteran, I believe this Veteran’s Day, America should weep at what love of the dollar has done to democracy in Detroit. Dollars should never trump democracy. Yet, dollars make a mockery of the sacrifices of Detroit’s Black American military veterans made to safeguard democracy the world over as hypocrites use Detroit debt as a poll tax slamming shut the doors of democracy in Detroit.

Those that are elected are charged with the responsibility of protecting the health, safety and welfare of nonvoters as well as voters. Those that did not vote for whatever reason have the U.S. Constitution to stand upon to petition their government and raise all the hell they want to whether they voted or not.

Do not delude yourselves. The people have not spoken. A distinct minority have seized meaningless offices until democracy is restored to Detroit. Anyone that has studied what tears nations apart should know that when you have a major disconnect between a government and the overwhelming majority of people that government claims to represent then that disconnect is fertile ground for resistance of tyranny by any means necessary.

Note to Democratic Party: This suppression of the Black vote is laying the foundation for Governor Nerd to seek a spot on the Koch Brothers’ national Republican ticket with Christie to take the White House. Yep. And they will carry Michigan as a lower than expected turnout occurs up and down the I-75 corridor.

Governor Nerd did suffer one defeat as a dreadlocked EM supporter was out-organized and outworked by Mary Sheffield in Detroit City Council District 5 when Sheffield built a coalition with primary opponents Brian White and breast cancer survivor Mary Waters. Raw Congrats to the Sheffield family!

We must never let haters cause us to lose hope or dislike ourselves and never let haters make you weak in your faith. Keep the faith. Stay on the battlefield.
