Detroit Raw by Sam Riddle

What about the terrorists? What about the union busting Detroit democracy destroyers? What about this naïve maybe stupid new leader of the Michigan Dems? What about the price of car insurance? Does the ex-Detroit City Council really believe that their ho-walk-around cash is for anything but to legitimate the illegitimate EM? Is anyone running for Detroit mayor worth a damn? Does sex education matter or is that some kind of freaky urban oxymoron?
Yeah, there is no shortage of crap to rail about. There are so many major issues on our nation’s, state’s, city’s and our own personal plates that it might be that time of the year to go fishing. Yep, fish and mind snack.
Detroit is smack dab in the midst of some of the best fresh water fishing on the planet. That may be why some are trying to make sure you don’t get hip to the reality that water is good for more than a shower.
For far less than a night of clubbing you can gear up for years to come with rod, reel, lures, bait, a license and hit public water including our own Detroit River.
If you are the father of a child in Detroit believe me there is no better way to bond with a youngster than to take them fishing. Sometimes that fishing trip can help strengthen or re-build relationships with mom too. So get up and away from the concrete plantation and get on the water.
An Earth Day mind snack tweet of mine: so many simply don’t give a damn about clean dirt, fresh water or breathable air — commit to make them care — make everyday #EarthDay.
Street kudos to Detroit School Board member Elena Herrada for standing strong against the symbolic anti-democracy actions of the former Detroit City Council 5 that prostitutes themselves to further the conflict of interest orgy throw down between the Jones Day law firm and mayor Snyder’s black proxy EM.
History buffs, go see “Last Call at the Conspiracy Lounge” great acting with an intriguing theme featuring Julius, Abe, Malcolm, JFK, Martin, RFK, Hoffa, Lennon and Marilyn now at 1515 Broadway between the Boll Y and Small Plates. Call 313.965.1515 for information on show times.
Michigan National Action Network president Reverend Charles Williams II is in line for a national NAN post according to NAN founder Reverend Al Sharpton. Williams will be criss crossing the nation in his new role and Raw wishes him the best in his new endeavors.
If Michigan legislators want recipients of state aid to take drug tests what about random drug and breathalyzer tests for legislators before they vote on new legislation? Goodness knows that there is some question as to the state of mind of those that vote for this madness.
Valerie Burris penned Detroit Raw’s Facebook post of the week: “Come on my sistas, we have to support and help one another. We are in our fifties, you shouldn’t be trying to compete with anyone, let alone a person that can be your daughter. Help her, don’t judge or try to go back to the time when you were that age. Why do we need ‘women’s groups’ to support one another? It should be automatic.” Thank you Valerie,
During church services I was blessed to hold hands with a tyke of about 15 months that was wearing her Sunday school hat with attitude during prayer. She was living notice for me why we must never let haters cause us to lose hope or dislike ourselves and never let haters make you weak in your faith. Keep the faith. Stay on the battlefield.
