Staff report

Howard University students posed for a photo Aug. 13 at an impromptu rally on the campus of the historically black college in Washington DC in response to the death of 18-year-old Mike Brown at the hands of a Ferguson, Missouri police officer.  Brown was shot Aug. 9 multiple times by the officer whose name is being withheld. According to Twitter user @The_Blackness48, students gathered for a meeting on freshman move-in and “felt we needed to respond to the Mike Brown issue.” Using the hashtags , @The_Blackness48 captioned the photo: “Powerful picture we took today at Howard University.”
