Detroit’s Red Carpet Backyard BBQ was held Memorial Day at Cass Park. The free event, sponsored by the United Supreme Council Northern Jurisdiction of Masons and the Shumake Friends & Family Foundation, fed many in the Detroit community and provided attendees with bags of groceries. Robert Shumake, founder of SFFF and USCNJM, says the event was created as a response to the economic downturn affecting citizens of metro Detroit.
