The city and state have seen structural changes such as welfare benefit cuts, the outsourcing of jobs, wage reductions and unemployment benefit cuts. Is there a connection between these policies and the rising crime rate?

The economy is bad. There are no jobs. What are people going to do? Some people say it is senseless. People are losing their mind. They’re trying to make ends meet. They’re desperate.

I don’t know why there is so much crime. I do know I can’t find a job. My boyfriend can’t find a job. None of the people around me can find a job. But it takes money to live. I don’t know what they expect us to do, starve?
