Hip hop enfant terrible, Tyler, The Creator was arrested March 15 in Austin, Tex., for allegedly inciting a “riot” at the South by Southwest music festival. On March 13, the 23-year-old rapper, born Tyler Gregory Okonma, allegedly encouraged the crowd waiting outside the full-to-capacity room to push past the guards. The fans seized the opportunity and packed into the room. No one was seriously injured.

On the same day at the festival, two people were killed and 23 were injured when an alleged drunk driver plowed through the festival barricades.

Tyler was keen to distance the incident at his show from the drunk driving tragedy. “…Please Stop Going Out Of Your Way To Mention The Tragedy And Tie Me To It,” he tweeted. “Thats Not Cool And It Bums Me Out.”

After securing a $25,000 bond, Tyler was released and went on to play a sold-out show in Dallas.

Tyler, The Creator, is co-founder of the group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, (Odd Future), a group of MCs and producers famous for recording, producing, marketing all of their own music, along with producing their own music videos and making all their own all album art.

A 2011 Odd Future concert in Detroit’s Majestic Theatre was cut short when rambunctious fans started throwing glass bottles at the performers.
