Nadir Omowale live: Real-deal Detroit Punk
Omowale to record live concert at NextWave Media Lab
TROY — Eleven-time Detroit Music Award winner Nadir Omowale presents Nadir’s Electric Lounge: A Multimedia Funk Experience and live concert recording Feb. 2 at NextWave Media Lab, 950 Stephenson Hwy., in Troy. Showtime is at 8 p.m.
The show will feature a set by Nadir’s seven-piece band — and party rhythms from DJ Ray 7 of Underground Resistance.
Nadir describes the Electric Lounge as “an exclusive and intimate multimedia adventure” featuring dancing girls, magnetic rhythms and real-deal Detroit funk. “The vibe is part science fiction, part blaxploitation. Think ‘Superfly’ meets ‘The Matrix’ in IMAX,” Omowale says.
The theme is partially inspired by location. NextWave Media Lab’s Theatre Epoch is nestled in a non-descript office park at Stephenson Highway and 14 Mile, on the south side of Troy. Originally designed for corporate media presentations, the theatre’s audio/video system recently underwent a major technological upgrade. It now features state of the art music and film recording capabilities sure to delight any serious audiophile.
The 7.2 HD surround sound and top-notch equipment augment the acoustically ergonomic stage and plush theater-style chairs, to create an impeccable sensory experience. The space is ideally suited for private film screenings, live music showcases and live video recordings.
“NextWave Media Lab’s facilities allow us to record the highest quality audio and video in a fun, electric atmosphere. NextWave is a rising star on Detroit’s resurgent media horizon, and at Nadir’s Electric Lounge, we’re going to immerse the place in the funk,” says Omowale.
Tickets for the 21 and older event are $10 in advance at Nadir-Music.com and $15 at the door.
