Summer Services Learning Experience is a program for middle and high school students. The program, held this year at Alkebu-Lan Village in the city’s east side, focuses on academics and employability; math and street sweeping; communication and graffiti removal. The emphasis is on community responsibility. The students received a $100 stipend and a trip to Cedar Point with a $50 gift card. They also received transportation and lunch for the 12-week, three-hour-a-day program, which is sponsored by the Detroit YES Program.
