THIS IS WHAT EM LOOKS LIKE
Parents at Bates Academy on Wyoming and Paul Robeson Malcolm X Academy at 2585 Grove are angry their students are subjected to flooded classrooms, falling ceiling tiles and other threats not only to learning, but to health and safety. While Gov. Rick Snyder took for the EAA 15 of the DPS buildings fixed and constructed with a half billion dollars in bond money, many DPS students are left in facilities with leaking roofs, exposed asbestos and engineers working too few hours to stoke the furnaces adequately in the worst winter in 35 years. Appeals to Emergency Manager Jack Martin have gone unheeded, parents say. For more photos see Page 16. Photos courtesy of parents.
