DEARBORN HEIGHTS — Theodore Wafer was arraigned this afternoon, Nov. 15, in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights. He received a $250,000 cash/surety or 10 percent bond. His preliminary examination will be held Dec. 18. Wafer’s attorney, Mack Carpenter, asked for bail to be set at $150,000. He told the court, the likelihood of him being a danger to society is very, very small.”
Wafer, 54, was charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and possession of a felony firearm in the shooting death of Renisha McBride on Nov. 2.
The 19-year-old was allegedly shot in the face by Wafer, a Dearborn Heights homeowner, who says, he was defending himself when McBride knocked on his locked screen door seeking help after having an automobile accident.
